  2. Juggling playing time a welcome challenge for streaking Boston Red Sox

Farrell&aposs challenge will be getting everyone enough playing time to stay hot, but right now it&aposs not such a bad problem to have. The Red Sox have out-scored opponents 54-19 over their last nine games. TORONTO -- Shane Victorino returned to the Boston Red Sox's lineup to face the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, which was generally good news for Boston had it not forced the hot-hitting Jackie Bradley Jr. to the bench. Victorino's return has presented the Red Sox with a crowded outfield/left side of the infield as they attempt to juggle enough playing time for everyone who is deserving. And right now, the whole lineup is hot. "Talk about hitting being contagious," said Stephen Drew, who is 7-for-17 over his last five games. Drew hasn't been starting against left-handers, but manager John Farrell is trying to get his shortstop going and doesn't want to interrupt his hot streak. Drew hasn't hit lefties well but is known for being a good fastball hitter and matched up well against Toronto Blue Jays' lefty J.A. Happ. While Drew had just 14 hits and five RBIs in his first 100 plate appearances, he has four hits and four RBIs over his last 14 plate appearances. "Hopefully I'll just keep this thing rolling for me," he said. "It's definitely, I knew it was going to be a learning process (after missing the first two months of the season), and it was. It's not as much fielding as it is hitting. Hitting is totally different than fielding. It's tough to prepare for that because you don't face big-league pitching while you're sitting there and trying to do the best you can to get ready for whatever." Xander Bogaerts had three hits Monday night and is starting to turn the corner, so he needed to stay in the lineup, too. Bogaerts is 6-for-18 over his last five games; he had six total hits over his previous 19 games. "What we’re seeing is he’s getting loaded a little bit earlier, giving him time to get to ...
